Similar objectives and different ways to reach them: it is the logic of life, but also that of the Windows operating system, with its functionalities that can be used in many ways, often hidden and not very accessible.
Disable automatic updates. Windows updates are important. However, automatec ones can compromise the functionality of your computer, especially the older ones. Type “Services” in the Windows search field, display the list and locate the one called “Windows Update”, select it with the right button >> click on properties >> stop and disable the automatic start options from the “Type” pop-up menu start up “.
Eliminate viruses and malware. With Windows, the possibility of taking a virus is always around the corner. To scan the system, looking for malware and viruses, one of the best solutions is represented by the Malware Bytes software, available in a free version and able to remove most of the threats.
Recover previous versions of files and folders. One of the most interesting and useful features of Windows is that of shadow copies of files. These are basically copies of each individual folder or document, created by the operating system within the hard disk space limit, dedicated by the user. You can recall and restore previous versions of files and folders manually by pressing the right button on the individual items and choosing “Restore previous versions” or using ShadowExplorer.
Uninstall a program permanently. When we install a software on the PC, we must put in a quote that, even uninstalling it via uninstaller or control panel, some traces of it will always remain for a walk in the pc. There are software like Revo Uninstaller, which allows you to permanently delete programs, removing all traces from the Windows registry and hidden system folders.
Disable the “Detected hard disk problem” message. It is a message that could appear occasionally and that often reveals real, indicating concrete problems of your hard disk. Given this, if you have made a backup and do not fear risks, you can disable it. From the local Windows policies it is possible to stop this control and the warning for the user. In the Windows search field type “Gpedit.msc” and press enter; select “Computer Configuration” >> “Administrative Templates” >> “System” >> “Troubleshooting” >> “Diagnostics” >> “Disks Diagnostics”, open the “Disk Diagnostics: Performance Level Configuration” entry and change it from “Not configured” to “Disabled”. Restart the PC to apply the changes.
